The consequences of a water leak in your home or business go beyond simply wasting water. In the event of undetected water damage, a small amount of water damage can result in a great deal more. By detecting leaks early, homeowners and companies can avoid high costs and inconvenience later on.
Our leak detection technicians arrive at your home equipped with the latest technology in leak detection. Your property doesn’t need to be dug up or torn apart to accomplish this. Instead, turning on an electronic device is all it takes to get access to the pipes.
Tools used by your technician can include:
Ultrasonic detectors: These detectors are hand-held, high-quality instruments that can help identify leaks in compressor systems.
Thermal camera: Able to both detect hidden leaks of water and their source while measuring moisture levels that are unreachable physically with moisture meters.
Acoustic elements: Identifies leaks via a detailed analysis of their sounds compared to those of normal water flow in the distribution system.
Tree roots, damaged pipes, sanitary napkins, excessive paper usage, and grease are the most common causes of drain blockages. As a result of this, when a drain in your house is blocked, several fixtures inside your home will be backed up.
We tend not to think about drain pipes until a problem arises because they remain hidden until the problem occurs. However, small issues in your drains may quickly become an overflow if you do not take action.
An underground drain network connects the shower system, basin system, washbasin system, sink system, and toilet system. Urgent repairs may be required if your fixtures make sounds, are slow to drain, or emit foul odours.
Our plumbing company specialises in clearing blocked drains and pipes, including using the latest no dig technology and equipment, including hydro-jetting and sealing agents.
Low water pressure
Multiple fixtures might be running at the same time, which may lead to low water pressure. However, there are other factors you should consider as well. The first step is to determine whether water is low at a single tap or if multiple taps and fixtures in your house are affected. If the low water pressure persists, a more serious problem exists, which will require a visit from a plumber.
Homeowners are often frustrated and disappointed when their water pressure drops. As a result, you will suffer when you shower, clean dishes, water the garden, etc. Get in touch with our experts at David Lewis Plumbing to solve your problem.

What payment methods do you take?
We are happy to accept payment by cash, card or bank transfer. Prior to commencing work, we offer our customers a FREE quote, so it’s clear from the outset how much the bill will be. Note that payment will be due once the work is complete.
I have a water leak, what should I do?
In the first instance, we recommend that you turn the water off at the mains. This will either be by turning a stop cock located inside your property, or by switching the water off at the meter. This will stop the leak temporarily until we can get there to sort out whatever is causing the problem. If the leak appears to have penetrated through your electrics (for example if you’ve had a flood in a first-floor bathroom and water has come through to the ceiling below), do NOT use the affected circuitry until the leak has been repaired, and an appropriate professional has checked the affected wiring.
Do I need a drain inspection?
A drain inspection using a cable-mounted camera can be a good way of assessing internal pipe integrity, enabling remedial action to be undertaken if necessary. We recommend a drain inspection in these circumstances:
- Before committing to buying an older property.
- If you suffer repeated drain blockages.
- If you’ve suffered a major drain blockage that’s been caused by a cracked or broken pipe.
Why do I need to service my gas hot water heater?
Regular servicing cuts down the risk of:
- The release of deadly carbon monoxide gas.
- The build-up of deposits that can reduce efficiency (reducing performance and potentially increasing fuel bills).
- Premature breakdown! Servicing helps to minimise stress on the heater, as well as enabling any minor faults to be detected and resolved early before they become major faults.
- Premature replacement. Servicing may help your boiler last longer.
How can I save money on my water bill?

Can all properties be fitted with solar panels?
Aside from apartments and multi-occupancy buildings, most other properties can be fitted with panels. That said, factors such as roof pitch, roof aspect, location and power requirements can all affect how much power is generated and how long panels will last before they need to be replaced. As plumbers that specialise in solar installations, we are happy to advise customers on an individual basis regarding the suitability of solar power for their property.
